About Me

My journey from being a curious child to a tech entrepreneur

Vicol Olawade

Who Am I?

My name is Oladimeji Victor (Vicol) Olawade, a Software Engineer, Data & AI Engineer, Entrepreneur, Product builder, and a Technology & Crypto enthusiast based in Lagos, Nigeria. I am the founder of Tixvnt, an event technology platform built to simplify ticketing and event management for organizers and attendees.

What makes my story unique is that I did not get into tech because it was popular or because I wanted a job in tech. Long before I understood what software engineering was, I was already exploring technology through curiosity and experimentation.

My Tech Journey

Early Curiosity

My journey into technology started long before I knew what programming or software engineering meant. As a child, I was naturally curious about how things worked. Whether it was electronic devices, mobile phones, games, or software, I always wanted to understand what was happening behind the scenes and how things could be improved, modified, or customized.

Childhood

Mobile Experimentation

During the era of Java and Symbian phones, I spent countless hours modifying applications and experimenting with mobile software. One of my earliest projects involved customizing versions of the popular social platform 2go. I modified assets, changed branding elements, customized achievement levels, edited configurations, and created my own personalized versions of applications. This was my first introduction to the idea that technology wasn't fixed; it could be changed, improved, and personalized.

Java & Symbian Era

Gaming, Modding & Reverse Engineering

My curiosity expanded into games and software modification. I experimented with Android applications, game patches, and software tweaks using tools available at the time. I modified mobile games, customized application behavior, explored APK modifications, and even edited PC games such as GTA by installing custom vehicle packs, sound modifications, body kits, and save files. This cultivated an engineering mindset of curiosity, experimentation, troubleshooting, and problem-solving.

Early Teen Years

Blogging & Content Publishing

Before becoming a developer, I built blogs where I published wrestling news, match results, and updates. This introduced me to web publishing, audience building, digital content creation, and the power of the internet.

2014 - 2016

Electronics & Building Things

Beyond software, I was fascinated by physical technology. I repaired household electronics, experimented with electrical components, and built simple projects using locally available materials, developing an engineering mindset long before university.

Secondary School Years

The Career Decision

I originally dreamt of becoming a pilot or an aeronautical engineer. My sister encouraged me to consider Computer Science after noticing my long-standing interest in technology, gadgets, and digital tools. It was an obvious fit; I had unknowingly been preparing for a tech career.

2017 - 2018

First Steps Into Software Development

Before learning traditional programming, I experimented with no-code and low-code tools such as Sketchware and Code.org. These platforms let me create simple applications and understand software logic, sparking my desire for deeper control and leading me to learn full programming.

2018 - 2019

First Website Launch

After secondary school, I began learning Frontend Web Development (HTML, CSS, JavaScript), building multiple beginner projects. In December of 2019, I deployed my first live website, marking the first time something I built was accessible to anyone globally. That moment became a defining milestone that solidified my path into professional software development.

2019

Computer Science Degree

I earned a degree in Computer Science at Osun State University, Nigeria, gaining a solid (theoretical) foundation in programming, algorithms, databases, networking, and software engineering.

2019 - 2023

PHP & Backend Development

In early 2020 I began learning PHP and backend development. The COVID-19 lockdown gave me the opportunity to intensively self-study, build projects, and solidify my software engineering foundation.

2020

Building Real-World Solutions

As my skills matured, I shifted from learning to solving actual problems, developing applications, business solutions, management systems, and digital platforms that deepened my understanding of architecture, APIs, UX, deployment, and product thinking.

2021

GoRent Uniosun

In my second year in Uni., I built GoRent Uniosun, a student-focused accommodation platform that helped students find hostels. This was my earliest experience in product development and problem-driven innovation.

2021 - 2023

Professional Software Engineering

I developed expertise in backend development, database management, payment integrations, SaaS architecture, and full-stack application development, contributing to projects across multiple industries.

2022

Graduating as Best Student

While balancing growth, development, client projects, entrepreneurship, and continuous learning, I graduated as the Best Graduating Student in my faculty, demonstrating the ability to combine technical execution with academic excellence.

2023

Tixvnt

I founded Tixvnt Technologies Limited, an event ticketing platform that simplifies ticketing and attendee management. It embodies my accumulated knowledge in problem solving, software engineering, product development, and user-centered design.

2024 - Present

Technology Educator & Community Builder

Beyond building products, I regularly educate aspiring developers and entrepreneurs through content creation, tutorials and mentorship

2021 - Present

Cryptopreneur & Solutions Builder

Alongside software engineering, I explore emerging fields such as Agentic AIs, autonomous AI workflows, robotics, IoT, decentralized systems, and other cutting-edge technologies. My long-term vision is to build impactful tech companies, empower communities, and create solutions that improve lives across Africa and beyond.
